Review Policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Every review on Westies comes from a customer who has used the business, and businesses cannot remove, hide or pay for reviews.
1. Who can leave a review
You can review a business only if you have a Westies account and you used that business. We check this before the review form opens. You qualify if:
- Booking: you booked through Westies and the appointment has taken place (shown as “Booked on Westies”);
- Quote: you accepted the business’s quote on Westies and the business marked the job done (“Quoted on Westies”);
- Invite: the business sent you a review invite after a job done outside Westies, and you opened it signed in with the invited email address (“Invited by the business”).
One review per customer per business; you can edit or delete yours at any time from your account. Reviews must be about your own experience. Owners, staff, family and competitors of a business must not review it. We show every published review, good and bad, and the average rating includes all of them. Westies does not publish ratings of customers.
2. Review invites from businesses
Businesses can invite genuine customers to review them: one invite per customer per year, and up to 20 invites in any 30 days. Invite links last 30 days and work only for the email address invited. A business must not:
- invite only customers it expects to be positive, or check how a customer feels before deciding to invite them;
- offer or give anything in return for a review, or ask for a particular rating or wording;
- review itself, or ask friends, family or staff to, or buy reviews;
- pressure a customer to change or remove a review.
3. What we publish and what we remove
Westies checks every review before it appears. We never reject or delay a review because it is negative, and businesses cannot approve, hide, reorder or delete reviews. We don’t publish, or we remove, a review that is not about the reviewer’s own experience; contains abuse, threats, hate or discrimination; names or identifies staff or other people or shares personal details; accuses someone of a crime or makes serious factual claims we cannot check; is spam, advertising or about a different business; was written for an incentive or by someone connected to the business; or breaks the law. If we reject a review we tell the reviewer why, and they can edit it and send it again. We keep a record of every decision.
4. Reporting a review, disputes and replies
- Anyone can use the Report link on a review or reply. We aim to decide within 5 working days.
- Businesses can reply publicly to any review. Replies follow the same rules as reviews.
- A business that disputes a review can report it with its reasons and evidence. We may ask the reviewer for their side. Disagreeing with an honest opinion is not a reason to remove a review.
- If you believe a review is defamatory, report it and tell us which words are untrue and why. We may take it down while we look into it.
5. If the rules are broken
We may remove the reviews concerned, stop a business sending invites, show a notice on its listing that reviews were removed for breaking this policy, or suspend or remove the listing. Fake or paid-for reviews by customers are removed and the account may be closed. Read how we handle reports in Reports and Complaints.
