Reports and Complaints

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This page explains how to report something on Westies, what we do with reports, how to appeal a decision, and how to complain. The person responsible for safety on Westies is Stephen Fegan. Contact: info@westies.app.

If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999. To report a crime that isn’t an emergency in Northern Ireland, call the PSNI on 101.

1. How to report

  • Use the Report link on any review, reply, listing, job post, conversation, quote or invoice. Choose a reason and tell us anything that will help.
  • Or email info@westies.app with a link to what you are reporting.
  • You don’t need an account. If you aren’t signed in, leave your email so we can tell you the outcome.
  • We never tell the person or business you reported who you are.

2. What happens next

  1. Your report is logged straight away and Westies is notified.
  2. We look at it within 5 working days. Reports of fraud in progress, threats, or anything involving a child are looked at the same day where possible.
  3. We decide whether it breaks our Terms of Use, the Review Policy or the law. We may ask you, or the other person, for more information.
  4. We act: remove or change the content, restrict it while we look into it, warn the user, or suspend or close an account or listing. If it doesn’t break the rules, we leave it.
  5. If you gave us an email address, we tell you what we decided.

We report illegal content to the police or other authorities where the law requires it or someone may be at risk. Child sexual abuse material is reported to the Internet Watch Foundation and the police.

3. If we act on your content or account

If we remove or restrict something you posted, or suspend or close your account or listing, we will tell you what we did and why, unless doing so would put someone at risk or hinder a police investigation.

4. Appeals

You can appeal if we removed your content, restricted your account or listing, or decided not to act on your report. Email info@westies.app within 28 days of our decision, with “Appeal” in the subject, and tell us why you think we got it wrong. We will look at the decision again, with any new information, and reply within 10 working days. If we got it wrong, we will put it right, for example by restoring the content.

5. Complaints about Westies

If you are unhappy with how we handled a report, how Westies works, or how we have kept to our online safety duties, email info@westies.app with “Complaint” in the subject. We will acknowledge it within 2 working days and reply in full within 10 working days.

  • Complaints about how we use your personal data can also go to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • Ofcom regulates online safety in the UK. It doesn’t resolve individual complaints, but you can tell it about a concern on its website.

6. Records

We keep a record of each report, what we decided, when and why, for three years. The Privacy Policy explains how this information is used.
